Where Locals Go for Fish on Friday: The Owl Tavern
🐟 Welcome to The Owl Tavern—where the fried fish is 🔥, the coleslaw is not an afterthought, and the barstools are broken in just right.

Tucked into a neighborhood full of (mostly) seasonal summer cottages, The Owl is what you’d call a quintessential Wisconsin bar experience. Technically it checks every box for a dive bar—old house, OG beer signs, original bathrooms (absolutely not ADA compliant 😂), and locals who greet you like family—but it doesn’t feel like a dive. It’s more… chill, authentic, and unbothered in the best way possible. Like, even the FIB’s are cooler here!
🚙 Or 🚲 Or 🐎 However You Roll
No joke—you can literally ride a horse or a golf cart here. There’s not another business in sight. So if you show up needing a bag of ice or an ice cream bar from the cooler next to the bar, nobody blinks. That’s just The Owl.

👑 Amanda: Lake Geneva’s Favorite Friday Night Co-Pilot
You can’t talk about The Owl on a Friday night without mentioning Amanda—hands down one of the kindest, most down-to-earth humans you’ll ever meet. She brings that perfect mix of beauty, warmth, and bartender badassery that makes you feel instantly welcome. (Oh, and ladies …. no worries if you catch your man trying to flirt ~ she has a super hunky boyfriend!)
And now? It’s a mother-daughter duo behind the bar on Fridays, with her mini-me daughter slinging drinks right beside her. It’s always been a family affair around Black Point Estate —and this next generation is keeping that vibe alive. 💕

🍽️ Let’s Talk Fish Fry
Robyn’s in the kitchen now, and this girl can COOK. Period.
Their Friday Fish Fry is the stuff of local legend:
- 🐟 Cod—baked or fried (combo plate available)
- 🥔 Potato pancakes that absolutely slap
- 🥩 Optional loaded baked potato upgrade
- 🥬 Coleslaw that’s a sleeper hit
- 🥖 A soft, buttery pretzel roll instead of rye
- 🍋 House-made tartar sauce (but ya gotta love dill!)
The fried cod was THICK—like, 2 inches of flaky, juicy, tender perfection wrapped in crispy, golden batter. And if you’re a potato pancake person (and we are), these are as good as they get. Crisp edges, soft center, hot and fresh. Robyn wouldn’t have it any other way.
💥 ATLG move: Skip the applesauce (still don’t get it, Wisconsin…) and double up on lemon and tartar.

🐟 Bonus Round: Walleye & Catch of the Day
If cod ain’t your thing, Robyn’s also serving up a giant fried walleye that had everyone around us raving. And for the foodies in the house—there’s a rotating catch of the day feature. Last night? A dreamy coconut-crusted mahi-mahi that tasted like a beach party in your mouth.

👩🍳 Robyn = Local Legend in the Making
You might remember Robyn from her days running Gypsy Soul food truck—Lake Geneva born and raised, a badass female chef with real flavor chops and a passion for local, seasonal ingredients. She tiles floors in her spare time, crushes music fests, and is straight-up killing it in the kitchen at The Owl.
We’re seeing a serious wave of kickass women chefs in the Lake Geneva food scene right now. Robyn’s one to watch—and one to support.

🍻 The Vibe? Unmatched.
By 5 PM, the place was full and the Old Fashioneds were flowing. The crowd? All in on Robyn’s round one of fish. The regulars know what’s up—and now you do too.
